A Few Special Animal Stories:
Regalo is one of the sweetest and calmest Chihuahuas you'll ever meet. He came from a litter of pups that Beth had. Regalo was given to a family as a puppy, but after a few years with them, their situation changed, and they ended up bringing him back to us. Regalo returning to our family was, in hindsight, a blessing, because he came at a time that Beth had lost a very special dog in her life, and it was a devastating time for her. However, the first day that Regalo returned he slept exactly where the previous dog had and followed Beth around as if he knew that this was what he was meant to do. And so, each day became easier & easier to overcome and the heartache for the one dog, though it never goes away, became bearable because of the love shown by another. Regalo lived up to the meaning of his name... which is "gift" in Spanish. Regalo is now one of Beth's personal service & therapy animals who helps heal broken hearts and bring joy to those he meets.
Junior is an umbrella cockatoo and quite the ‘chatter box’ of the family! He'll greet you with a "Hi, what are you doing?" And if the phone rings he'll answer it with a "Hello!" Not only does Junior love chatting, he enjoys dancing to music as well! Junior came into the Smooches family a number of years ago and at first we were not sure that he was going to stay as a family pet. His beak was intimidating, as it would be to most, but the only thing that he wants to use his beak for is eating his favorite foods out of your hand and giving smooches. Junior has a heartwarming, kind and gentle nature...he loves snuggling with those he meets and will be a keeper in our Smooches & Smiles family for life...which for a bird like him, could be close to a 100 years!
Molly Moo is a mini horse who is not much bigger than a large dog! She has pretty blue eyes and markings on her face that look similar to a cow and thus the reason for ‘Moo” in her name! Molly is about 12yrs old, and Beth has owned her since she was about a year old. Because of their size & cuteness, in the horse world, minis can have a reputation of being 'spoiled & bratty'. And of course, Molly is cute, and we do spoil her, however from the day that she came into our family, Molly has displayed an attitude of kindness and willingness to please. She is easily approachable and will stand for extended periods of time to be brushed, petted and loved on! Molly is our mini horse that we take out in the community for visits and has also been trained to travel indoors if the venue calls for it. She is comfortable around strange settings, loud noises, crowds and obstacles that might be bigger than she is! Molly is sweet, gentle and loves to be snuggled with lots of petting!
